Overview
Western Washington University seeks to provide an environment in which every individual has an opportunity to learn, work, and contribute, and where full inclusion and respect for all people encourages creativity and productivity. Accessible Events
Creating accessible events and activities allows all members of our community to engage, learn and contribute. Consider the following guidelines for accessible events:

Select accessible spaces for events and activities. This includes space for wheelchairs, walkers, mobility scooters, service dogs, or other medical equipment. Consider seating arrangements that have a direct line of sight to captioning services or ASL interpreters, and visual aids for low-vision attendees.

Provide a clear statement on promotional materials, letting attendees know how to request disability accommodations.

Check the parking availability as well as routes that would need to be accessed in order to participate in the event.

If you are providing food at the event, make sure there is a variety of foods available in order to accommodate various dietary needs.

Caption all video and visual aids.

Provide ASL interpreters if there are speakers.

Ensure there are accessible facilities for toileting and other needs available within a reasonable distance.
University Housing
University Residences adheres to the University's Accommodating Persons with Disabilities policy (POLU1600.03), which reflects Western’s commitment to compliance with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 as amended; Section 504 the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (P.L. 93-11) and 45 C.F.R. Part 84; Fair Housing Act of 1968 42 U.S.C. Sec. 3601 et seq., Chapter 49.60 RCW; and Chapter 28B.10 RCW.
University Residences recognizes the importance of providing reasonable accommodations in its housing and dining policies and practices and is committed to supporting the University’s educational purpose and mission. With direction from Disability Access Center, University Residences provides comparable, convenient and accessible housing to students with disabilities, without charging a higher room rate for a DAC approved disability accommodation.
